The candidate shall be awarded MenpaKachupa (Bachelor of Sowa-Rigpa Medicine and Surgery – B.S.R.M.S.) degree after passing all the examinations and completion of the prescribed course of study extending over the prescribed period and the compulsory rotatory internship extending over twelve months.

Medium of instruction:- The medium of instruction for the course shall be Bhoti language.

(1) The first professional session shall ordinarily start in March and the first professional examination shall be at the end of one academic year of first professional session.

(2) The second professional session shall start every year in the month of March after completion of first professional examination and the second professional examination shall be ordinarily held and completed by the end of month of December or January every year after completion of one year of second professional session.

(3)The third professional session shall start every year in the month of March after completion of second professional examination and the third professional examination shall be ordinarily held and completed by the end of the month of December or January every year after completion of one year of third professional session.

(4) The final professional session shall be of one year and six months duration and shall start every year in the month of March following completion of third professional examination and the final professional examination shall be ordinarily held and completed by the end of month of June or July every year after completion of one year and six months of final professional session.

1. The duration of Compulsory Rotatory Internship shall be one year and the student shall be eligible to join the compulsory internship programme after passing all the subjects of all professionals’ examinations.
2. The internship programme shall start after the declaration of the result of final professional examination.
3. The Internship Programme and time distribution shall be as follows:-
   
   1. The interns shall receive an orientation programme of internship, which shall be organised during the first three days of the beginning of internship programme and a work book shall be given to each intern, in which the intern shall enter date-wise details of activities undertaken by the intern during the internship.
   2. Every intern shall provisionally register himself with the concerned State Board or Council and obtain a certificate to this effect before joining the internship program.
   3. The daily working hours of intern shall be not less than eight hours
   4. Normally one-year internship programme shall be divided into clinical training of six months in the Sowa-Rigpa hospital attached to the college and six months in the Rural Hospital or District Hospital or Civil Hospital or any Government Hospital of modern medicine: Provided that where there is no provision or permission of the State Government for allowing the graduate of Sowa Rigpa in the hospital or dispensary of Modern Medicine, the one-year internship shall be completed in the hospital of Sowa-Rigpa college.
4. The intern shall be trained practically with the following activities during the period of internship:-
   1. Training in pulse analysis, urology, stool examination, laboratory examination, case taking, investigations, diagnosis and management of common diseases by Sowa-Rigpa.
   2. Personalised treatment of patient through long term examination along with treatment methods such as dietary, behavioural management, balances in daily routines.
   3. Diagnosis of paediatric disorders through examining the nerves on ears of children, analysing the urine of children, analysing the vomit and treatment of diseases through diet and medicine.
   4. Diagnosis of gynaecological disorders through sensing pulse, analysing urine, interrogation, looking at the patient and touching the patient’s body.
   5. Training of surgical treatment such as golden needle therapy, healing through copper cupping, use of Moxabustion, venesection (bloodletting), preparation of medicinal bath, mild massage therapy and spring water therapy.
   6. Management of certain ailments such as fractures and dislocations, management of minor cuts, internal and external wounds.
   7. Training in actual application of five therapies in sequence as follow:-
      1. Actual application of oil therapy and preparation of different oil required as per the nature of disorder.
      2. Training in application of purgation, understanding the time of purgation.
      3. Training in application of nasal therapy and understanding the compounding of main and other formulations of nasal therapy.
      4. Basis on which mild enema should be applied: different types of compounds for mild enema and methods of administrating mild enema and its benefit.
      5. Actual administration channel cleansing in accordance with suitable place and season; signs of successful channel cleansing.
5. Six months training of interns shall be carried out with an object to orient and acquaint the intern with the National Health Programme and the intern shall undertake such training in one of the following institutes, namely:-
   1. Primary Health Centre.
   2. Community Health Centre or District Hospital.
   3. Any recognised or approved hospital of modern medicine.
   4. Any recognised or approved Sowa-Rigpa hospital or Dispensary.

1. The minimum marks required for passing the examination shall be fifty per cent in theory and fifty per cent in practical or clinical or viva-voce, wherever applicable separately in each subject.
2. A candidate obtaining seventy-five per cent marks in the subject shall be awarded distinction in the subject as per the institute rule.
3. The supplementary examination shall be held within six months of regular examination and failed students shall be eligible to appear in its supplementary examination, as the case may be.
4. Each student shall be required to maintain seventy-five per cent attendance in each subject (in theory and practical) for appearing in the examination and in this regard a class attendance card shall be maintained for each student for the different subjects and the Principal shall arrange to obtain the signature of the students, teachers at the end of each course of lectures and practical instructions and send the cards to each Head of the Department for final completion before the commencement of each examination.
