The eligibility to seek admission in Bachelor of Sowa-Rigpa education is as under:-
(a) 12th Standard with science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) or any other equivalent examination recognised by concerned State Government, education boards.
(b) 12th Standard with Bhoti language, Buddhist philosophy and logic.
(c) For foreign students, any other equivalent qualification to be approved by the University concerned may be allowed.
The duration of the MenpaKachupa (Bachelor of Sowa-Rigpa Medicine and Surgery-BSRMS) degree course shall be five years and six months comprising:-
(a) First professional - Twelve months
(b) Second professional - Twelve months
(c) Third professional - Twelve months
(d) Final professional - Eighteen months
(e) Compulsory Rotatory Internship - Twelve months.
(1) The first professional session shall ordinarily start in March and the first professional examination shall be at the end of one academic year of first professional session.
(a) The first professional examination shall be held in the following subjects, namely:-
(i) rTsarGyud- I (History of Sowa Rigpa)
(ii) rTsarGyud- II (Fundamentals of Sowa-Rigpa)
(iii) Luskyignas lugs (Anatomy)
(iv)Luskyimtshannyid (Physiology)
(v) nPhidripgNat(Characteristic of disorders)and
(vi) Bhoti Language paper.
A student failed in not more than two subjects shall be held eligible to keep the terms for the second professional course, and shall not be allowed to appear for second professional examination unless the student passes in all the subjects of the first professional.
(2) The second professional session shall start every year in the month of March after completion of first professional examination and the second professional examination shall be ordinarily held and completed by the end of month of December or January every year after completion of one year of second professional session.
(a) The second professional examination shall be held in the following subjects, namely:-
(i) Zas tang- schodlam(Dietics& Community Medicine)
(ii) sByorwasman- I(MateriaMedica–Plant Kingdom)
(iii) sByorwasman- II(MateriaMedica–Metal, Mineral and Animal Kingdom)
(iv) gsotshulbshad pa (Therapeutic principle)
(v) Phyima’irGyud- ZiChedSmanGimDo (Pharmacy).
A student failed in not more than two subjects shall be held eligible to keep the terms for the third professional course, and shall not be allowed to appear for third professional examination unless the student passes in all the subjects of the second professional.
(3)The third professional session shall start every year in the month of March after completion of second professional examination and the third professional examination shall be ordinarily held and completed by the end of the month of December or January every year after completion of one year of third professional session.
(a) The third professional examination shall be held in the following subjects, namely:-
(i) gNatrtaksthaps(Genenral Pathology)
(ii) Man ngagrgyud- LusStodSowa (Head and Neck disorders)
(iii) Man ngagrgyud- Ton sNod Sowa and Sang gNas (Disorders of Thorax, Abdomen and Genital Organs)
(iv) Manngagrgyud- LhanskesrMa (Malignant Tumor, Disorders of Blood and Blood vessels)
A student failed in not more than two subjects shall be held eligible to keep the terms for the final professional course, and shall not be allowed to appear for final professional examination unless the student passes in all the subjects of the Third professional examination.
(4) The final professional session shall be of one year and six months duration and shall start every year in the month of March following completion of third professional examination and the final professional examination shall be ordinarily held and completed by the end of month of June or July every year after completion of one year and six months of final professional session.
(a) The final professional examination shall be held in the following subjects, namely:-
(i) Lus-NadSowaySman (General Medicine)
(ii) Man ngagrGyud- byis pa gsoba (Neonatal care and pediatric disorders)
(iii) Man ngagrGyud-Monad Sowa (Gynecological and obstetrics disorders)
(iv) rTsubrChad and rMa Sowa (Wounds and Surgical therapy)
(v) Phyima’IrGyud- Las Nga Tang, Jam, Chad (External and Rejuvenation Therapy)
A student who passed all the subjects of final year examination shall be eligible for joining the compulsory one year internship.
